Good evening folks and I hope everyone is having a great day. Not much on the senior front other than what is already reported other than the 2nd’s are back in action at Pottington Road as Barnstaple Athletic take on Crediton 2nd’s. Kick off is 2.30pm and it should be a great game with both teams having won 2 games each so far this season.
Club news wise nothing really to report, Ladies day seemed to be a great success from all accounts and of course the annual fireworks display is scheduled for Sunday 5th November and its always a great spectacle. Other than that and the upcoming Boxing day specials there’s very little to tell.
So on to Junior News firstly with the Colts who played host to Ivybridge Last Saturday and endorsed their cup final win over them last season with a close 17-12 win, which makes it 2 wins from 2 a great start to the season.
The Under 16’s had a massive 52-0 win away to Launceston, Photos from Clive Harrison HERE. They don’t play again until the 22nd October where they have 3 weekends of away games, so watch this space for updates.
The U15’s, Barum Raiding Party, have had a great start so far with a 42-24 away win to Launceston with Tries:by C Pike-Scholtz, G Pearce 2 each and C Heron, A Anderson 1 each. Last Sunday they had a home game against the county’s leading side in the age group and despite losing 21-35 they had an excellent performance against a very good side, with many players playing out of position. Of great note here though is that in both games kicker Tyler Gordon-Oke was 100% kicking 9 from 9. Jordan Petherbridge better start watching out as another young gun is hot on his tail.
The U14’s and U13’s had good outings at Launceston at the start of the month with the U14’s winning 17-12 and The Barum Commandos had a great performance to grab a 3-3 draw and are definitely improving game on game. They took the lead in the first few minutes with the first try scored by Morgan Gabe. However Launceston responded and the match saw an intense and exciting encounter between the two teams who were pretty evenly matched, the other barum try scorers Kai Chappell and Fin Body. The U12’s also had a good 12-3 win at home to Launceston. The Red stormers took it to the visitors from the very first whistle and our newest Red stormer, Patrick Henry had an awesome début making some amazing strong tackles which included a try saving tackle and then came very close to scoring himself.
The only other match I have is the U10’s and I’ll leave that match report to their people which reads,
Rucking and a three-man scrum were the new law variations that Barnstaple U10’s were putting into practice whilst they played their first game of the season against South Molton. The match was a good learning experience for both teams. Two games were played with Barnstaple just edging the victory with a combined total of 7 tries to 4.(35-20) Tries were scored by Ethan Bowden, Ruben Chugg (2), James Fyers, Charlie Hill, Oscar Lambert and Rory Swanne.
That just about wraps it up don’t forget The Chiefs are up at Henley and the Pre match report and team sheet might be a little late as I’m celebrating my birthday on Thursday and Friday so who knows what state I’m in so anything posted after just take with a pinch of salt especially the spelling mistakes. Good luck to all the Barum Teams this coming weekend and let’s keep it loud.
